Canadiens assistant coaching search underway
As the Montreal Canadiens player development camp gets underway management is still searching to fill an important position for the future. If you don’t know by now, Gerard Gallant now former Habs assistant coach was hired by the Florida Panthers as their head coach. Gallant was an integral part to Michel Therrien’s staff and has left a void that must be filled with just the right person.
Marc Bergevin and his staff have now settled down a fair bit after the craze of free agent frenzy and have been reviewing their options closely, according to a source familiar with the situation.
At this point no specific names of the coaching search have a risen, although some believe the Habs will just move assistant coach Clement Jodin from the press box to behind the bench. Jodin has plenty of experience behind the bench and was shifted to coaching the Habs powerplay near the end of the season and the playoffs during this past season.
Other candidates from the outside have former Montreal Canadiens head coach and player Guy Carbonneau as a possibility to joining Michel Therrien and his staff.
For now the search continues…
