Panthers to name Gerard Gallant head coach on Monday

UPDATE: The Florida Panthers are expected to make an official announcement on Monday on the hiring of Gerard Gallant as their new head coach according to multiple reports.

According to Jimmy Murphy of XN Sports the Florida Panthers are close to announcing Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Gerard Gallant as their new head coach. Murphy suggests an official announcement could happen as early as tomorrow.

“I have confirmed through an NHL source that Gerard Gallant is very close to becoming the new head coach of the Florida Panthers.”

“Per that same source, Panthers coaching job was down to Gallant or Dan Byslma but as of now it appears the job is Gallant’s.”

A source also indicated to TheHabsNation yesterday that it is very possible that the Panthers have offered Gallant the head coaching job and were waiting for Gallant’s response.

“Have a strong feeling the Panthers have offered Gallant a coaching job. Probably mulling over the offer now.”
