Bulldogs sign David Makowski to one-year contract

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that they have signed college free agent defenseman David Makowski to a one-year AHL level deal with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

MONTREAL,QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Bulldogs have signed defenceman David Makowski to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2014-2015 season. In 42 games with the University of Denver Pioneers in 2013-2014, Makowski recorded 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) and 48 penalty minutes. The St. Louis, Missouri native finished the season tied for the team lead in points by defencemen and was second on the team in both goals and assists by defencemen. In 142 career National Collegiate Athletic Association games with the University of Denver from 2010 to 2014, the 24-year-old recorded 93 points (27 goals, 66 assists) and 169 penalty minutes.Before his collegiate career, the 6’1”, 205-pound defenceman played two seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League and one season with the St. Louis Bandits in the North American Hockey League. In 103 regular season games with Green Bay from 2008 to 2010, Makowski recorded 70 points (27 goals, 43 assists) and 155 penalty minutes. In 51 regular season games with St. Louis in 2007-2008, he recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) and 73 penalty minutes.
