Habs to begin contract talks with P.K. Subban as early as next week
According to a source familiar with the situation the Montreal Canadiens will begin contract talks with P.K. Subban as early as next week.
The Fourth Period also reported that contract negotiations will begin later this month between the two sides.
“Contract negotiations between the Montreal Canadiens and defenseman P.K. Subban are expected to get underway later this month. Mark Guy, who represents Subban along with Don Meehan, told TFP the two sides have not yet started discussions.”
Initial reports suggest Subban could get as much as $9 million on a long-term deal in the 7-8 year range. Earlier this year when preliminary discussions between Subban and the Habs began there were rumours that Marc Bergevin and the Canadiens were talking about a 6-8 year deal worth around $56-70 million.
