How many more years for Michel Therrien?
The Montreal Canadiens have advanced to the Eastern Conference finals with Michel Therrien behind the bench…many did not believe Therrien would take this team this far…many did not believe Therrien could develop young players…many wanted Therrien fired about four months ago.
In his second stint with the Montreal Canadiens Michel Therrien has changed his coaching style and has changed the way he views the game. Therrien is much more calm, cool and collective behind the bench, he seems like a guy that has done this before…oh wait! he did. We don’t need to indulge in to the whole story, we already know his past and what he has accomplished.
Michel Therrien has one more year, after this year, remaining on his contract and the big question is how many more years will he be here for?
There has been rumors floating around that Therrien will get an extension this summer but it’s a matter of how long that extension will be. A source has indicated that a 2 year extension is something that seems very realistic for the Therrien and the Habs, although a 3 year extension is not out of the question. There is a sense that if the Canadiens go on to the Stanley Cup Finals that Therrien will get a 3 year extension meaning he will be around for another 4 years total on contract. If Therrien gets a 2 year extension this summer then he will be on contract through to the 2016-17 season.
Question to the readers, will Michel Therrien get a contract extension?, has he warranted a 1, 2, or even 3 year extension?
