Andrei Markov most likely won’t be moved at trade deadline
There have been a lot of Andrei Markov rumors floating around as of late and the most recent comes from the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch reporting the Edmonton Oilers have made an offer for the Canadiens defenceman. The rumored price for Markov would be a high draft pick plus a prospect in exchange for the veteran rearguard.
I’m told Edmonton has made a pitch for Montreal defenceman Andrei Markov….The Oilers might be willing to ante up the three-year contract Markov wants.
A source said that the main clubs expressing interest in Markov are the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks. If the Oilers are interested they are not as serious as the Kings and Sharks at this point in time. If Markov does go unsigned into July 1st free agency the Oilers will likely make a hard pitch for him, but don’t expect Markov to be traded at the deadline to any club let alone the Oilers.
Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette says don’t be surprised if Markov is signed before Wednesday’s trade deadline.
I believe the Habs will get a deal done with Andrei Markov sooner than later and he won’t be moved at least for this season unless it’s an offer Marc Bergevin can’t refuse.
