Potential Bourque for Parenteau offer falls through

UPDATE: Louis Jean of TVA Sports obtained some new details yesterday of the Bourque for Parenteau trade that fell through.

According to sources, the Montreal Canadiens have indeed declined the transaction of Bourque for Parenteau. Montreal asked for Jamie McGinn….Salary of Bourque and Parenteau were considered in the balance. Several teams are informed about PA Parenteau’s availability…To conclude the Canadiens asked for Jamie McGinn. The Avalanche refused, although Colorado was willing to retain part of Parenteau’s salary to strike a deal.

According to reports the Colorado Avalanche wanted Rene Bourque plus another piece believed to be a young prospect for P.A. Parenteau but GM Marc Bergevin didn’t feel comfortable giving up youth. Also the report above by Louis Jean possibly matches this one as the Avs may have asked for Bourque and another piece for Parenteau and salary retention of Parenteau’s contract.

RDS’s Luc Gelinas says the Habs didn’t want to give up Sven Andrighetto in the rumored trade.

According to our expert hockey Luc Gélinas, the Colorado Avalanche was seeking the Swiss forward Sven Andrighetto to finalize the agreement Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau sending to Montreal and it was the refusal of the Canadian transaction was aborted.

Previous reports: According to TVA Sports Louis Jean the Habs rejected an offer from the Colorado Avalanche that involved Rene Bourque and PA Parenteau.

The CEO of the Montreal Canadiens, refused when he wanted to get their hands on a different player, learned of Jean Louis TVA Sports Monday.

Negotiations between the two teams, however, does not stop there and it is not impossible that a transaction may occur.

There may have been other ramifications around this deal that Bergevin did not like such as retained salary or draft picks/prospects.

Bergevin is open to trading Bourque to the avs, but doesn’t want PAP in return.

According to Francois Gagnon of RDS it was the Colorado Avalanche who rejected the Bourque for Parenteau trade.

According to my information, the Canadiens were willing to give Rene Bourque to the Avalanche in return for PA Parenteau, but the Colorado Avalanche were the one’s who refused.

This makes a lot more sense, although still doesn’t seem 100% true at this point.
