P.A. Parenteau is on the Habs radar
The Montreal Canadiens are apparently interested in Colorado Avalanche forward P.A. Parenteau according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Bergevin has been looking all over the trade market for a top six winger and Parenteau may fit the bill.
Parenteau, 30, is in his second year of his 4 year $16 million pact that carrier a fair value $4 million cap hit. Parenteau has recorded 26 points (9 goals, 17 assists) in 41 games this season after coming off a solid year last season were he posted 43 points in 48 games. Parenteau has missed 10 games this year with a knee injury and has played just 3 games since coming back from his injury and will be a healthy scratch for the Avs, which has fueled the trade rumors.
The Avalanche are in desperate need of defense and if they are willing to part with Parenteau they will definitely be looking at a top four defenseman. The Canadiens are willing to move Raphael Diaz who will become a UFA on July 1st as well as Douglas Murray and or Francis Bouillon. Although I highly doubt the Avalanche will be looking at the latter two, Diaz will be an interesting piece, probably not enough to garner a top six forward though. Josh Gorges could be an option to be moved for Parenteau in a one-for-one deal, but Gorges is such a key piece in the Canadiens organization and has a limited no trade clause which would cause some problems I would assume.
