Bulldogs Release Nystrom; Signs With KHL Club
Erik Nystrom, 20, was the Canadiens sixth round draft pick in 2012 and was currently on a professional try-out with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL. Nystrom recorded 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) and 4 penalty minutes in 17 games this year with the Bulldogs.
Nystrom has been released of his PTO by the Hamilton Bulldogs and has since then signed a one year contract with Medveščak Zagreb of the KHL, below is the release from their website.
” Nystrom is a Swedish born player 1993rd that a satisfactory manner should provide added flexibility in our team that we need the KHL’s quota for players under 21 years of age. It was the sixth pick Montreal Canadiens draft choice and of twenty, playing for the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs team scored five points in 16 games,” announced a new player in the locker room Medvescakovoj sports club manager Aaron Fox.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Bulldogs have released forward Erik Nystrom from his professional try out contract.
In 17 games with Hamilton this season, Nystrom recorded five points (one goals, four assists) and four penalty minutes. The 20-year-old split last season between MODO of J20 SuperElit (junior) and Karlskrona HK of Allsvenskan (professional) in Sweden. In 22 regular season games with MODO, he recorded 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) and 32 penalty minutes. In 24 regular season games with Karlskrona, the Stockholm, Sweden native recorded 11 points (five goals, six assists) and four penalty minutes. He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the sixth round (154th overall) in the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
